The Tasmanian Automotive Chamber of Commerce (TACC) has served the automotive industry in Tasmania since 1928.

There had always been a long standing and mutually supportive relationship between TACC and the Victorian Automotive Chamber of Commerce (VACC).

TACC successfully lobbied state government on behalf of members for many years, but times were changing and in 1999 TACC and VACC were amalgamated. This merger offered members a more diverse range of services, while still maintaining a Tasmanian perspective on local issues.

Today we are dedicated to the promotion, representation and preservation of member businesses to local, state and federal governments, as well as the media, consumers and the community.

As part of the Government’s Economic Response to the Coronavirus, $1.3 billion will be made available to 70,000 small businesses to help them keep on their apprentices and trainees.

Eligible employers will receive assistance in the form of a wage subsidy, reimbursed in arrears at 50 percent of the apprentice/trainee wage, for a maximum of nine months.

The Department of Education, Skills and Employment has released a subsidy fact sheet for employers, which covers:

  • When will Supporting Apprentices and Trainees be available?
  • How are payments made?
  • How do employers register and apply for the subsidy?
  • Are full-time and part-time apprentices and trainees eligible?
  • Are employers eligible for Supporting Apprentices and Trainees and other incentives available under the Australian Apprenticeships Incentives Program?
