The Tasmanian Automotive Chamber of Commerce (TACC) has served the automotive industry in Tasmania since 1928.

There had always been a long standing and mutually supportive relationship between TACC and the Victorian Automotive Chamber of Commerce (VACC).

TACC successfully lobbied state government on behalf of members for many years, but times were changing and in 1999 TACC and VACC were amalgamated. This merger offered members a more diverse range of services, while still maintaining a Tasmanian perspective on local issues.

Today we are dedicated to the promotion, representation and preservation of member businesses to local, state and federal governments, as well as the media, consumers and the community.

The chamber president wants to hear from you!

24 January 2023

Are you proud of your leadership skills, or maybe you’re keen to celebrate a star employee?

If so, tell the world with an Automotive Industry Award.

All Victorian Automotive Chamber of Commerce (VACC) and Tasmanian Automotive Chamber of Commerce (TACC) members can apply, but entries close on 10 February, so get your skates on.

It's a simple process with big benefits.

Whatever your business – big or small, metro or regional – there’s an Automotive Industry Awards (AIA) category that fits. Once you’ve chosen, you just have to tell the chamber in 500 words or less why you’re The One.

Now, as well as small and large business awards, there are also two President’s Awards.

These are the special prizes that I’m here to spruik.

Recently the chamber welcomed its new president, Chris Hummer. He is making a splash and wants to celebrate the stand-out players in automotive by presenting the President’s Awards for Best Employer and Best Employee.

Here’s a little bit of a rundown:

This award recognises and celebrates people like you. Employers who embrace, promote, and value sound business practices and high customer satisfaction levels, and create great teams.

Do you have a great performer on your team? Celebrate and recognise their hard work and enjoy the marketing benefits of having an outstanding employee working at your business.

This year’s AIA really is a win-win! Not only will you be making a good business move by applying (winners gain recognition for successes, which, in turn, is a great way to promote to prospective staff and customers), but you can also enjoy a great night out at the 2023 President’s Gala Dinner.

Hosted by yours truly, the gala will be a jam-packed evening of entertainment including the Voices Supergroup – featuring Boom Crash Opera’s Dale Ryder and Choirboys' Mark Gable – as well as magic with Matt Hollywood, great food and wine, and dancing. On the night, AIA winners will be revealed, along with VACC and TACC Automotive Apprenticeships’ award winners.

It’s set to be the automotive event of the year. I’ll see you there.

Go on, you know you want to.

Big shout out to AIA major partner DENSO for supporting and celebrating our industry. They jumped on the bandwagon for THE GRILLE podcast and are now a major AIA partner and sponsor of the President’s Awards. As well as category sponsors Spirit Super, Podium, Marsh, Commonwealth Bank, SP Tools and Mas National!

Applications for the Automotive Industry Awards close on 10 February 2023.

Words: VACC Ambassador Shane Jacobson.
