Auto industry’s next generation recognised

The Victorian automotive industry’s next generation was recognised on Wednesday, 11 April when 121 apprentices and trainees graduated in a formal ceremony in Melbourne, attended by more than 400 people.
Hosted by AFL legend, Kevin Sheedy, and organised by VACC Auto Apprenticeships, the VACC Graduation & Award Ceremony 2018 honoured the efforts and perseverance of 40 school-based graduates, 69 apprentice graduates, and 12 diploma graduates.
In addition, six awards were granted on the night, with Daniel Griffin winning Outstanding First Year Apprentice; Jesse Aldenhoven taking out the Outstanding Second Year Apprentice award; Kwannah Bear claiming Outstanding Third Year Apprentice; Shalmin Khan won the Progressive Excellence Award; Bryce Banting was announced as the Outstanding Trainee of the Year; and Jeremy Shaw won the VACC Outstanding Apprentice award.
Distinguished guests on the night included VACC President, Mr Tony Sanchez; VACC Directors, Mr Peter Savige, Mr Fury Bortolotto, and Mr Chris Hummer; Department of Education representatives, Neil Angus MP and Victorian Skills Commissioner, Neil Coulson; and Jenny Lambert from the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
VACC Auto Apprenticeships is the largest automotive apprentice employer in Victoria.
