Duo celebrates 25 years of TACC membership

20 MARCH 2024

March 2024 marked 25 years of TACC membership for Fogarty Automotive Services in North Hobart.

Owners Steve and Lynne Caplice started in business as contracted fuel station operators at a well-known location on the Brooker Highway in Hobart. Steve had carried out an apprenticeship in the Tasmanian Hydro workshops as a machinist, but always enjoyed working on cars. His interest in the automotive industry compelled him and his brother to buy into the prominent fuel retail business. As it was back in the day, most ‘servos’ offered a workshop option and the pair put in some big years pumping gas and repairing cars as a TACC member.

The mid-80s saw changes in the fuel industry and the purchase of the Fogarty Automotive business have seen the Caplices spend the last 20-plus years running their automotive repair and service business with Steve at the coal face and Lynne providing the backup.

Steve’s passion for the automotive industry extends past his business interests. He’s a well-known Tasmanian motorsport identity. Scrutineering is his passion and he now contributes much time to local and Australia-wide motorsport events.
