Lockdown in southern Tasmania

Southern Tasmania will go into lockdown Friday 15 October from 6pm. The lockdown is set to last three days.
The lockdown is needed to identify if there are further cases of COVID-19 in the community.
Residents of Southern Tasmania local government areas must stay at home unless they are:
- Shopping for urgent household supplies within five kilometres of home, only one person from a household at any one time
- Attending medical or health care appointments, including COVID-19 testing or vaccinations.
- A permitted worker
- Going to school
- Exercising once per day outdoors within five kilometres of home for up to two hours, alone or with your household or with one other person for safety reasons
- Caring for a vulnerable person or for other compassionate reasons
- In other permitted circumstances, such as in an emergency or to escape harm relating to family violence.
Based on the previously published Lockdown Plan, the following automotive businesses are classified as ‘essential’ in the event of a lockdown occurring in Tasmania:
- Petrol stations and electric vehicle charging stations
- Vehicle, bicycle, and mechanical repairs, however this does not include general servicing
- Roadside assistance services
- Ancillary services and supply chains to ensure the necessary production, supply, manufacture, repair, maintenance, cleaning, security, wholesale, distribution, transportation or sale of equipment, goods or services required for the operations of any of the permitted premises or services.
General retail will be unable to trade.
