Coronavirus: VADA Roadmap to Recovery

18 June 2020

The Chamber has published a paper that will inform immediate short-term lobbying efforts on behalf of dealer members.

The purpose of the document is to discuss opportunities and impediments to the financial and social contribution of new-car dealerships in the current Victorian environment, and present 13 key recommendations to Federal and State Governments.

Recommendations include moves to extend the land tax deferral/refund for all automotive dealers and LMCTs, review the depreciation cost limit in regard to the Instant Asset Write-Off scheme and abolish luxury car tax.

Entitled The Road to Recovery: A roadmap for the COVID-19 recovery of Victorian automobile dealerships, the submission is the result of a collaboration between the Victorian Automobile Dealers Association (VADA) and Steve Edmonds from ShineWing Australia, and was written with 100 percent new-car dealer input.

As the paper outlines, significant opportunities exist for the Victorian and Federal Governments to offer stimulus measures for a vital sector which will, in turn, benefit labour markets and the economy.

VACC remains committed to its advocacy work on behalf of members and the wider automotive industry, Chamber submissions are available to review here.
