Vehicle salespersons remuneration arrangements  - important advice on operative date

In September 2017, VACC sent out  a bulletin to members advising of the following important change to remuneration arrangements for vehicle salespersons:

“A Full Bench of the Fair Work Commission handed down a decision in August 2016 which determined that in addition to the award retainer, commissions could be treated as part of the total remuneration paid to vehicle salespersons under the VMRSR Award.  This decision means that commissions can be used to remunerate vehicle salespersons who work more than 38 ordinary hours, calculated at the minimum hourly rate of pay prescribed in the award for each additional hour worked in excess of 38 hours”

This Bulletin also advised members that the operative date for the change would be 1 January 2018.

Due to the delay in  finalising changes relating to the Vehicle Manufacturing, Repair, Services and Retail Award 2010  and the backlog of four year review issues being dealt with by the Fair Work Commission, changes to the  award, including the revised arrangements for vehicle salespersons remuneration, will not occur on  I January 2018.  It is now likely that the changes will not take place until February/ March 2018. VACC will keep members advised of developments as soon as we receive news from the Fair Work Commission.
