New President for VACC

November 30, 2016

Melbourne, 30 November – Leadership of the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC) changed hands on 30 November when, at the 98th Annual General Meeting, the new President, Mr Tony Sanchez was announced.

Mr Sanchez is the 56th VACC President and is well known to members through his long and distinguished service on the VACC Board of Management and Executive Board, and his chairmanship of VACC’s Automotive Electrical Division.

When he is not serving the VACC membership Mr Sanchez is running his A Grade-standard auto electrical business, ALS Automotive, in South Melbourne.

Mr Sanchez has worked for many years with outgoing President, Mr Peter Savige, and generously praised his predecessor.

“I pay my respects to Mr Savige, who has served the membership so superbly over the past two years, leading the Board of Management and the Executive Board.

“Mr Savige has worked extremely hard and effectively during his term of office and throughout that time has also served as the Used Car Traders Division Chairman, and Chairman of the Finance and Audit Committee and the Investment Committee.

“Mr Savige has overseen numerous changes at VACC, ones that have ensured the association has a long and meaningful future,” President Sanchez said.

In his handover speech Mr Savige said that Mr Sanchez would make an excellent VACC President.

“Mr Sanchez is a devoted VACC Director and an outstanding leader. I commend him to all members as a decent and honourable man who will serve the Victorian automotive industry well.”
