Coronavirus: Hygiene tips for motorists and customers

8 April 2020

Automotive businesses have put in place numerous practices to protect customers and staff. There's also an opportunity for businesses to provide customers (motorists) with some helpful hygiene tips of their own in order to keep them safe and mobile.

Here are some simple hygiene tips for motorists, to help further minimise the risk of spreading COVID-19. Business owners should encourage their customers to take these tips on board, in addition to following all Government hygiene protocols:

  • Use disinfectant wipes to sanitise commonly touched surfaces after using a vehicle (such as the steering wheel, indicator stalk, hand brake lever, entertainment/navigation systems, and door handles)
  • Limit the number of passengers in order to adhere to government social distancing recommendations
  • Wash or sanitise hands after refuelling
  • Avoid paying for fuel with cash or handling EFT terminals.

Member businesses can add to the list above and share these useful tips with their customers in the form of an email, social media post or website update.
