Establishing an Industry and Government ZEV Working Group

22 February 2023

The Victorian Government will establish an Industry and Government Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Working Group, in a move applauded by VACC.

The working group will fall under the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) and will include representatives from a range of Victorian Government departments and agencies.

VACC will shortly receive an invitation to join the group and welcomes the opportunity to advise on structural changes in the industry, and the challenges it faces as the vehicle fleet transitions.

Findings from the chamber’s examination of EV policies and industry conditions in the European and North American markets support VACC’s position that government policies must consider the needs of industry and the wider community during this time of rapid change.

Acting Director, Energy Strategy Zoe Wood will chair the working group, which will focus on education, recycling, transport and energy policy. VACC expects its publication Fully Charged: The automotive industry’s policy priorities for the next Victorian state government will provide initial discussion points.

It’s positive the Victorian Government recognises VACC has a key role to play in shaping policy in this area.
