Who repairs your vehicle?

27 August 2021

It’s your car, your choice

Most adult Australians own and run a vehicle.

But many people don’t understand they may not be able to choose who repairs their vehicle in the event of an accident.

Increasingly, insurance companies are making ‘choice of repairer’ optional, but there are several good reasons for stipulating it in your insurance policy.

Choose a specialty repairer

Choice of repairer is important for owners of any make or model, but particularly those with specialty, rare, or classic vehicles. It’s vital they’re repaired by marque specialists, and it’s likely you know who they are.

Choose local

Choosing a repairer means you can go to a business close to home. That could save you a lot of time travelling across town to a body repair shop of the insurer’s choosing. Choosing local also supports local small businesses who employ local people.

Choose quality repairs

Your chosen repairer will quote on every damaged component on your vehicle, including the parts you can’t see.

Choose to be an individual

Insurance companies are often large corporations that may not view you or your vehicle individually. If you allow your insurer to control who repairs your car, you could wait longer than necessary, and your repairs may not be what you expect.

So, if you want to be in control, choose ‘choice of repairer’ when next renewing your vehicle insurance policy.

Afterall, it’s your car, your choice.
