Apprenticeship incentives

2 August 2024

The government has recently announced new apprenticeship incentive arrangements for employers and apprentices.

Incentives for apprentices and for employers have been around in Australia for about 25 years. The government is always considering the value for money for those incentives, and again they've been moved around more recently. The pendulum seems to be going more towards incentives to The Apprentice to keep The Apprentice workplace, but there are still incentives there for employers.

There's a link here to a table that outlines what the new incentive arrangements are for the next year. But be advised, that the government is looking at different models and different considerations for incentives in the future. We'll always argue with a government that employers need to be incentivized to take on apprentices because they cost money.
