National Heavy Vehicle Regulator seeks feedback

14 April 2021

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) is seeking feedback on its draft Heavy Vehicle Safety Strategy 2021/2025.

The document sets out NHVR's strategic ambitions to improve heavy vehicle safety outcomes, including a reduction in crashes, fatalities and serious injury. It is aligned to the draft National Road Safety Strategy 2021/2030, which sets out Australia’s road safety objectives, key priorities for action, and road trauma reduction targets to 2030.

Specifically, NHVR is seeking input on:

  • The regulator's approach to partnerships
  • Positive changes in individual behaviours and industry culture to improve safety
  • Driving the uptake of a modern, safer heavy vehicle fleet that reduces the likelihood and impact of crashes
  • Influencing road network design to support safe heavy vehicle use.

Members are invited to provide feedback to VACC, in order to inform the Chamber's draft response. Member input must be received by Monday, 19 April 2021.

Submit feedback electronically. Alternatively, email Dr Imogen Reid. E: ireid@vacc.com.au
