EPA Small Business Program pilot

11 January 2021

Registrations are still open for the Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA)'s Small Business Program pilot, an initiative intended to help small businesses understand Victoria’s new environment protection laws – set to take effect on 1 July.

Specifically, EPA is calling for more body repair participants and VACC is encouraging members to sign-up and take advantage of the advice and support available in the lead-up to the regulation roll-out.

Under the new laws, a business that conducts activities posing any risk to human health and the environment must take reasonably practicable steps to minimise them. Therefore, the program will provide tailored expert advice to businesses, focusing on risk assessment management.

Participants will receive free advice (with EPA covering the cost of experienced consultant visit/s), as well as a tailored action plan outlining how to improve the management of risks of harm from pollution or waste.

To be eligible a business must:

  • employ less than 60 staff
  • be an automotive repair and maintenance business; or
  • be an automotive body repair business.
