Coronavirus: COVIDSafe app

1 May 2020

VACC President, Fury Bortolotto and VACC CEO, Geoff Gwilym are at the forefront of Australian business leaders downloading the Federal Government’s COVIDSafe app.

Recognising the need to get business back to normal, President Bortolotto was one of the first to download the potentially life-saving phone app, which will allow authorities to speed up the process of identifying and contacting people exposed to Coronavirus (COVID-19).

“President Bortolotto actually brought this to my attention,” said VACC CEO, Geoff Gwilym. "It was his strong recommendation that, as leaders in the automotive industry, he and I download the app, and recommend that the business community do the same."

While the app is voluntary, VACC is urging members – and those in the wider automotive industry – to, at the very least, learn more about the initiative and consider next steps. COVIDSafe plays a key role in the Federal Government’s strategy to slow down the spread of COVID-19, and an early and wide-spread uptake could dictate when and how government restrictions are reviewed and revised.

For more information about COVIDSafe, including privacy and data protection, visit the Australian Department of Health website.

The app can be downloaded from the Apple iStore and Google Play.
