Women in Automotive (WinA), a special interest group of the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC), is proud to announce their International Women’s Day Breakfast, to be held Thursday, 5 March at the Royce Hotel in Melbourne.
The event will feature a panel of the finest talent currently gracing Australian motorsport including Jessica Dane, COO of Triple Eight Race Engineering and Chair of the Australian Women in Motor Sport Commission; Molly Taylor, Australian Rally Champion, Subaru Ambassador and TCR Driver; and Kate Peck, Channel Ten motorsport reporter and RPM co-host. After the panel discussion, led by Nadine Armstrong of Carsales.com.au, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a panel Q&A session.
“Women in Automotive is delighted to show its support for International Women’s Day, shining a spotlight on high achieving women in motorsport,” said WinA Manager, Dr Imogen Reid.
“This event showcases the many and varied roles women can play in the automotive industry, along with celebrating their successes. Now in its twenty-first year, WinA continues to support and raise the profile of women in automotive,” Dr Reid continued.
Chair of WinA and VACC Executive Board member, Sharon Pask emphasised the importance of bringing women in industry together, sharing that “WinA could not be more excited and honoured to host these amazing panellists at our IWD Breakfast event. Each of these women represent amazing success within their chosen sector of automotive, and we know their stories and journeys will provide inspiration towards ensuring gender balance occupies a top priority within the automotive industry”.
VACC CEO, Geoff Gwilym has further commended the event, saying, “VACC welcomes the 2020 International Women’s Day with a great line-up of proven champions in the industry.
“Networking is key to success in any industry and this is a great opportunity to extend your own network and to recognise the enormous contribution women have made in automotive.”
Working in collaboration with WinA, the International Women’s Day Breakfast will also serve as the relaunch of Motorsport Australia’s Girls on Track program, derived from the successful Dare to be Different initiative first launched in Europe. Girls on Track was created to inspire young women to consider a career in engineering, technology and other motorsport-related professions.
