Bosch: The Shaws and their successful partnership with Bosch

When Darren and Cathy Shaw opened their second workshop, VACC member-business Bentleigh Automotive Services in Melbourne’s south-east in 2013, they had no hesitation in making it a Bosch Car Service workshop. Their first Bosch Car Service workshop in Malvern was already a successful operation and partnering with Bosch once again for their Bentleigh location, made perfect sense to them both.

“I think Bosch are pretty good. They have taught us a lot over the years. We receive support through their business guidance and training, which includes OHS, marketing and finance, and our technicians regularly brush up on their skills through the Bosch Automotive Technical Training Program. Bosch also keeps us on track by conducting regular quality audits and mystery tests,” said Darren.

The ongoing partnership between Bosch and Bentleigh Automotive Services has worked very well over time, with Cathy now representing the Victorian workshops as their Bosch Car Service council member.

Speaking with Cathy about their journey so far in the automotive industry, Cathy remembers the times when there were moments of feeling quite isolated when they weren’t associated with Bosch.

“There was no one to share arising business and workshop issues with. This changed once we joined the Bosch Car Service network, as we came across hundreds of like-minded people with the same interests as us. It’s always great to catch up with the other Bosch Car Service owners and workshop managers at the Bosch networking events and we all return to our workshops with new and innovative ideas to implement into our businesses. Continuous improvements are necessary to keep afloat in this industry,” says Cathy.

The range of vehicle servicing and repair knowledge needed today, is critical to ongoing success. Partnering with the right partner is more important than ever before.

“Working in the automotive service and repair industry is like a big brain tease every day! This keeps me on my toes and without the support of Bosch and their training, the boys (technicians) and I would not be able to perform at the highest level. Each day, I see more customers seeking second opinions. They’re starting to move away from dealerships and by being part of the Bosch Car Service network, the association with the Bosch brand, (globally recognised and trusted by consumers), leads them to choose us. They trust Bosch Car Service to care for their cars!” said Darren.
