VACC's leadership team participated in a significant industry engagement event at Parliament House this week, joining automotive industry representatives from across Australia for the Motor Trades Association of Australia's quarterly Parliamentary Engagement Day.
The Chamber was represented by incoming CEO Peter Jones, outgoing CEO Geoff Gwilym, and Executive Manager of Policy and Communications Dr Imogen Garcia Reid, who met with key government and opposition figures to discuss pressing industry matters.
Central to the discussions was the MTAA's Election Blueprint, which outlined crucial reforms needed across the automotive sector. Key focus areas included franchising legislation, proposed emissions standards, workforce development strategies, and automotive taxation frameworks.
The delegation held productive meetings with several parliamentary leaders, including Infrastructure and Transport Minister Catherine King, Small Business Minister Julie Collins, Skills and Training Minister Andrew Giles, Shadow Infrastructure Minister Senator Bridget McKenzie, and Shadow Climate Change Minister Ted O'Brien.
"This collaborative approach with our interstate colleagues strengthens our industry's voice in Canberra," said VACC CEO Peter Jones. "It ensures Victoria's automotive businesses remain at the forefront of national policy discussions."
As Victoria's peak automotive body, VACC will continue to work alongside its MTAA counterparts to advocate for sector interests, with further policy discussions planned for the coming months.
