DRIVEN Charger Rebate Stream Grant Opportunity

We are pleased to announce the official launch of the DRIVEN Charger Rebate Stream program. This grant initiative offers up to $40 million in funding to support EV dealerships and automotive repairers in the installation of electric vehicle (EV) chargers. What is it?
The DRIVEN Charger Rebate Stream grant opportunity will provide $40 million in funding for EV chargers to EV dealerships and automotive repairers. This initiative aims to provide co-funding for the installation of EV chargers across Australia.

Why is this important?
The primary goals of the DRIVEN program are to:

  • Increase the number of EV charging stations across the country, including in remote and regional areas.
  • Support the growth of the electric vehicle (EV) market by encouraging more EVs on the roads.

How long will it run?
The DRIVEN program will be available over a 4-year period from 2024-25 to 2027-28. However, the application window closes on 30 April each financial year, or earlier if the funding is exhausted.

What could you get?
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you could receive a rebate for purchasing and installing eligible EV chargers at your EV dealership or repair business.

Who can apply

You can apply if you:

  • Have an Australian business number (ABN)
  • Have an account with an Australian financial institution
  • Are an incorporated entity in Australia

 

And also one of the following:

 

  • A licenced motor dealer/trader
  • A service centre associated with a licenced motr dealer/trader
  • An automotive repair business that meets Australian Standards 5732:2022 (EV operations - maintenance and repair), with at least one qualified staff member for EVs
     

Eligible activities

To be eligible, you must have purchased and installed at least one eligible smart EV charger at an eligible site (on or after 26 March 2024)
 

Eligible Smart EV Chargers:

  • AC plugs with 7 kW charging speed (single phase)
  • AC plugs with 11-22 kW charging speed
  • DC plugs with 50 kW or less charging speed
     

Grant funding details

  • Your project must have a minimum expenditure of $2,000
  • You'll be reimbursed up to the value of your actual eligible expenditure
  • Mixumum rebate per eligible site (dealership or repairer: $20,000
  • You can apply for any combination of plugs under one application
