Coronavirus: Melbourne metro restrictions

25 May 2021

New restrictions for metropolitan Melbourne have been announced and will come into force on Tuesday, 25 May 2021 from 6pm.

VACC assures members that workplaces can remain open.

However, it is important to be aware that on Tuesday, 25 May 2021 from 6pm:

Face masks: Compulsory indoors at all times for anyone aged 12 years and older, unless an exemption applies

Gatherings: No more than five visitors to a home per day, no more than 30 people at public gatherings.

The restrictions will be in place until at least Friday, 4 June.

Anyone from metropolitan Melbourne can travel to regional Victoria but the Melbourne restrictions will apply during these travels.

The new restrictions are being introduced in order to ensure a recent cluster in Melbourne's northern suburbs remains contained. The Victorian Government has released the public exposure sites, anyone who has been to the location/s during the specified times listed must follow the advice noted for that exposure site, contact the Department of Health, and get tested.

It is crucial that every Victorian remains vigilant and VACC reminds members it is mandatory for every business with onsite operations to have a COVIDSafe Plan in place. The Chamber OHS&E Unit is available to support members and answer questions they may have about updating or maintaining their current plan.
