Earlier this year the Fair Work Commission awarded a 1.75 percent increase to all minimum award rates of pay, based on a 38-hour week. Therefore, from the first complete pay period commencing on or after 1 November 2020 minimum wage rates increase – and employers must make sure that employees are paid at least the minimum rates.
For the automotive industry, the relevant operative dates:
- Clerks – Private Sector Award 2020
The minimum award wage increase applies from the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 November 2020
- National Training Wage (VRSR Award 2020)
The minimum award wage increase applies from the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 November 2020
- Vehicle Repair, Services and Retail Award 2020
The minimum award wage increase applies from the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 February 2021.
