Petition for two-wheeler rights

22 September 2020

A petition calling for improved conditions for owners of motorcycles, scooters, and two-wheeled electric vehicles has been launched by the 2 Wheel Action Group (TWAG).

Championed by legendary Australian motorcycle racer Wayne Gardner, the petition is calling on State and Federal Governments to:

  • Lower the cost of two-wheel registration and CTP ($50 for 50cc, $100 for LAMS, and $200 for open)
  • Standardise registration and CTP Australia-wide
  • Allow LA category vehicles to be ridden on a car license Australia-wide
  • Incentivise commuters to purchase electric-powered two-wheel transport through green fund rebates (similar to solar rebates) and eliminate stamp duty charges
  • Deliver national exemptions from motorway, bridge, and tunnel toll charges
  • Allow free parking, including on the footpath (ensuring public thoroughfares and walkways are not compromised or impaired).

VACC encourages members to sign the petition.
