The Victorian State Government has announced that from 13 September 11:59pm, some COVID-19 restrictions will be eased across Victoria. Regional Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne have separate roadmaps, which will be informed by community case numbers.
"Importantly, we want the whole of the state to be at COVID Normal by the end of the year," said Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews.
For the sake of clarity, the government has structured the roadmaps into five steps.
First Step
Regional Victoria
First step only applies to Metro Melbourne
Metro Melbourne (13 September 11:59pm)
Expanded social interaction
Second Step
Regional Victoria (13 September 11:59pm)
Social bubbles, visitors and staged return of education
Metro Melbourne (28 September subject to trigger points and public health advice)
Social bubbles, phased return of some workforces and education
Third Step
Regional Victoria (subject to trigger points and public health advice)
Increased reopening for sport, recreation, ceremonies and special occasions
Metro Melbourne (26 October subject to trigger points and public health advice)
Major industries return, increased reopening for education, sport, recreation, ceremonies and special occasions
Last Step
Statewide (23 November subject to trigger points and public health advice)
Increased numbers for gatherings and hospitality
COVID Normal
Statewide (subject to trigger points and public health advice)
No restrictions for gatherings, visitors, hospitality or sport.
'Trigger points' refer to a point for review by the public health team to consider any potential changes to the restrictions.
Although the pathway toward COVID Normal is dependant on a number of factors, such as case numbers and testing numbers, to provide some clarity on the planned return to work, education, and living as normal, Metropolitan Melbourne roadmap and Regional Victoria roadmap webpages are available to view on the Business Victoria website.
Note: Members are advised to rely on the most recent news stories and Bulletins only, as government advice and regulations will continue to change as the COVID-19 situation develops. This advice was correct at the time of publication.
