Following a spike in coronavirus cases, in a bid to reduce the number of people gathered across Victoria, the Andrews Government has announced further safety rules, in addition to current COVID-19 restrictions.
From 1 July 11:59pm:
- Victorians are being asked to only see the people they need to (although officially travelling to or from areas has not been blocked)
- Shopping centres are required to apply the four square metre rule to limit the number of shoppers
- Outdoor markets are required to apply the four square metre rule to limit the number of shoppers.
Restricted postcodes
Additionally, a local lockdown will apply to specific areas experiencing a high level (or risk) of coronavirus transmission, including postcodes: 3038, 3064, 3047, 3060, 3012, 3032, 3055, 3042, 3021, 3046.
Stage 3 Stay at Home restrictions will be applied until at least the end of the month, with residents in flagged postcodes only allowed to leave their homes for four primary reasons:
- Shopping for food and supplies
- Care and caregiving
- Exercise
- Study or work – if it cannot be done from home.
For Victorians who reside outside these locations, the same four reasons to visit apply.
If business operations are affected by the return to local lockdown restrictions, members are encouraged to apply for $5,000 support under the Local Lockdowns Business Support Program.
