Coronavirus: Industrial relations rehaul

3 June 2020

Prime Minister, Scott Morrison is pursuing a post-Coronavirus industrial relations compact by September 2020, the move set to result in the most ambitious workplace relations changes since the Accord of the 1980s.

The Attorney-General will oversee five working groups to negotiate a package to promote jobs in five key areas:

  1. Award simplification
  2. Enterprise agreement making
  3. Casuals and fixed-term employees
  4. Compliance and enforcement, and
  5. Greenfields agreements.

Employers and union representatives will sit on each group. Along with individuals, a diverse range of expertise in small business, rural and regional businesses, multicultural communities, will also be consulted.

The VACC Industrial Relations team will ensure members are kept informed of all changes, as the Department has done with recent Federal Award updates, and will continue to be available to support and advise members accordingly.
