International expert trainer Dirk Fuchs will fly back into Melbourne to deliver his Level 3 (to European ECE R100 standard) high voltage training. In addition, he’ll deliver Level 4 training, which includes training in working under live conditions.

The Level 3 course covers:

• 2.5 days’ in-person high voltage certification training
• Parallel and series electrical circuits
• Resistors, diodes and capacitors in HV systems
• Ohm’s law
• Transformers and rectifiers operation
• Relays and transistors function
• Vehicle intake process and safety measures
• Determining HV battery state
• Performing a four-wire measurement method
• Performing an insulation test
• EV diagnostic methods
• Performing manufacturer’s disconnecting procedure and verifying EV zero potential
• High voltage theoretical and practical assessment
  • 45-minute theoretical exam (multiple choice)
  • 30-minute practical exam: performing a certified disconnecting procedure; diagnosing high voltage system; bonding and insulation faults.

The Level 4 course covers:

• Disconnecting a live vehicle and bringing it in a safe state
• Safe high voltage battery removal process
• Personal protection when working under live conditions
• How to remove and replace battery modules
• How to perform insulation resistant testing in open batteries
• How to use a two-pole voltage tester at battery modules
• Performing battery enclosure and coolant testing
• Diagnostic methods on live electric vehicles
• Performing the replacement of high voltage battery contactors
• Balancing high voltage battery cells
• Safe diagnostic strategies when the system is in a live state.
