Commercial Tenancy Relief Scheme to end

13 December 2021

To ease the pressure on Victoria’s small and medium-sized businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Victorian Government reintroduced the Commercial Tenancy Relief Scheme (the Scheme) this year.

The Scheme will end on Saturday, 15 January, however, tenants and landlords under financial strain still have access to the Victorian Small Business Commission’s (VSBC) support after that date. Tenants will no longer be entitled to rent relief, but tenants and landlords can negotiate a new arrangement.

If negotiation doesn’t result in a fair agreement, or the tenant or landlord refuses to negotiate, either party can apply for VSBC help – including free mediation.
