Coronavirus: Remain vigilant, avoid fines

2 November 2020

Industry has reopened in metro-Melbourne, and members are reminded of the importance of remaining vigilant and adhering to government guidelines.

The recent easing of Melbourne COVID-19 restrictions has made the implementation of a COVIDSafe Plan, and operating with COVIDSafe Principles in mind, imperative in order for businesses to continue to service the needs of motorists.

To ensure compliance with government guidelines (including a mandatory COVIDSafe Plan), random workplace spot checks are underway in metropolitan Melbourne, and failure to comply could result in an on-the-spot fine of up $9,913 and up to $20,000 for serious offences.

VACC members are encouraged to review the latest VACC OHS&E and IR department resources on the member-website, as well as State Government materials – all designed to help businesses ease back into operations in the safest way possible for staff and customers. Government materials include COVID-19 translated information for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
